  4. We kicked their butt. We're good at that. We kick any ones  butt if they try to invade our country.

  6. Vietnam was a french colony, or they just fought there before we did in vietnam....

  7. After taking over the Portuguese's' control, at the start of the 19th century, The French divided the country (previously a battle worn area due to the Chinese) into areas that didn't mess culturally.

The different factions or "clan" based people of the areas didn't take kindly to European control and made life difficult for the French settlers to continue their dominance over the economy. There are many other reasons, of course, that contributed to the ensuing conflict, but eventually in became impossible for the French to maintain control of this region of Asia.

Due to the United States of America's government,  at the time, belief that the Chinese planned to predominate the region (and they were correct), they became involved in keeping the peace ever while the french began an exodus from that area.

The Portuguese and French influences remain today. France left their language and the Portuguese much of their architecture. The people of Vietnam maintained their friendliness and hospitality and eventually their own sovereignty.

  8. Viet Nam was a colony of France since the 1800's. Viet Nam had a revolution against the French that began in 1953. The French got bogged down and gave up in 1963, by that time the USA was already sending in combat "advisers" to the French, because President  Kennedy and then Lyndon Johnson saw that the Chinese were making inroads to control it. The French bailed, quit, and guess what? The USA lost 57,000+ military lives.

I cannot remember what Viet Nam was called before in 1953. Maybe Google it.

  9. Vietnam was once a colony of France. The French were forced to give up Vietnam after years of bloody war.
