If the Free Trade policy is kicked into gear, what does that mean for laborers in the USA? And how could it possibly benefit them?

  1. Their will be more and cheaper imported products to buy, and US exports to trade partners will increase. In aggregate they will be better off, though some in particular industries will be worse off to the extent that demand for what they produce is support by import restriction. And some in particular export industries will see demand for their labor increase.

  2. NAFTA is already in operation the last time I heard. It's possible there are things I don't know, but I think it's basically a free trade agreement. The benefits are for companies to be able to sell across country lines without additional taxes, thus allowing the product more affordable for the end consumer. It is supposed to open up jobs on both sides of the lines too.

I don't think it always works, but it is a good start.

There are many other benefits and downsides that I don't fully understand though.
