What does G51-15 stand for in astronomy?

Not too far from Procyon and a bit to the north relative to Earth is G51-15 (at 11.7 Light years) a cold old star. A lot smaller than the sun even a close planet would probably be an ice block.

Not sure, without something more to go on - astronomy is a huge field of study.

The G could stand for G-type star (stellar classification) - these are stars like our sun.  But I don't know what the 51-15 means.
