  1. Gory means Fair, Maim mean lady..

    Its not offensive, people call white foreigners that way.. Gori maim or Gora Saab meaning white man.


  2. People [in India] used to address English or non-Indian women with that name or caling as they look beautiful. No-a-days you would not come across that phrase in India because it was in use only when the British were in India and had been ruling the country. You might hear that name in Indian movies sometimes. Gori means a lady with a fair complexion. Maim means M'am.

    But it might be a misconcept that people used to call only English ladies with that name. They used to and in rurual areas they are still used to call fair ladies from urban or advanced cities Gori Maim. Educated people don't use that phrase however and you are not likely to hear that phrase here now-a-days until you visit a village.

  3. Have you heard this in India? gory maim is not an offensive word. In hindi language gory means white and maim is madam.
