  1. The best way to get better is to compete in tournaments and to wrestle the best opponents.

  2. Hey Steve...the answer above me is right, If you are a true wrestler you wrestle all year long...Champions are made in the off season. And your first year of wrestling is always the hardest, you wont like it too much I went 3-11 my first year...that was sixth grade 7th grade i went 11-11 and just this last year i went 25-6, loosing to the same kid 4 times...(his high school are the state champions in Indiana, so his middle school is deff good.) But This year I am a freshman and plan on doing good I am fairly decent and it is all about hard work and sacrifice...I gave up football so I can start off season. If you plan on doing wrestling you need to start lifting properly and going to open rooms and such and look into off season wrestling...look up these things, anaerbic and aerobic exercises...both are very crucial for your performance...wrestling is no boys sport, in high school you will be expected to cut a fair amount of weight in  a short amount of time...and not eating a lot on season...

But when you get your hand raised infront of your friends and family and achieve great acomplishments like winning state and national titles...it is worth it, you will feel great! Havent won anything too big yet but plan on it! Words from Ken Chertow: Hard work makes dreams come true...!

  3. in my school its pretty much running

  4. Conditioning is basically getting you into shape. You will do Basically alotttt of exercising during pratice. Some times the whole pratice.

Im not sure when is starts.

Im not sure what to do for that either.

  5. it differs from schools. For my team we start conditioning in october, and it's only 20 to 30 minutes after school

  6. wrestling is in the winter (around end of october is beginning of "season"... a dedicated wrestler doesnt really have an "off season"...

as far as conditioning, running, push ups, sit ups.... basically normal conditioning, but you need to make sure you can go a full 6 minutes actually wrestling! like, in a real match...

the best advice i can give is go talk to the coach. most coaches want different things, based on their own programs.....

seriously, wrestling is a good disciplinary sport. keeps boys (and girls) respecatable!!! trust me! i grew up with it!!!!
