What does KKK stand for? What does this mean?

I went to visit my daughter out of state. I saw bright lights on window sills in ~lots~ of houses and thought peeps had forgotten to take down Christmas lights (it was April) or they were protecting themselves from break-ins. My son-in-law said those lights were to signify that they were clan members. Is that true?

Ku Klux Klan.  Though for the most part they&#039;ve moved underground.  I don&#039;t know what state you were in- I assume it was a southern one, but I&#039;ve never heard of candle lights having anything to do with the KKK.  I live in Georgia, it that makes a difference.
