I have been doing some research on salt and blood pressure and in my notes i found "MAP". I cannot find the source anymore so I'm not sure what this means. Help?!

  1. Given that I do most of my research in immunology, I am familiar with the MAP kinases ( mitogen activated protein) kinases, such as the ERKs, and JNKs. These are serine /threonine kinases that phosphorylate specific serine or threonine moieties in proteins and activate them in a signaling cascade called the MAP kinase pathway.

MAP kinase kinase kinase ( MAP3K ) phosphorylates MAPkinase kinase which is then active and phosphorylates MAP kinase which then leads to further activation, and amplification of signalling pathways . Mitogens are agents such as concanavalin A, pokewed mitogen , etc  that cross- link and activate extracellular domains of the MAP complex to imnitiate the signaling cascade

  2. Mean Arterial Pressure.

If it is connected to blood pressure, therefore, it means mean arterial pressure.

I also know that the mitogen-activated-protein thingy gives an acronym of MAP.
