    i hope u hav a great tym bein a new Muslimah!~

  2. American stereotypes?  You still have to cover up from head to toe.

  3. Well, here's what I'd say. Do Wudu, and wear loose fitted clothing to the mosque. Like, loose trousers, flip flops (easier to get out of to do wudu) and a loose caftan/kurta top.

    Oh and a hijab.

BTW, I feel like your father is waiting for you to turn your back from Islam. Please, if you ever have questions about Islam which you can't ask anyone, I'll answer them for you. I mean it. Don't lose out on this beautiful religion. And don't use the internet as your primary source coz there's some nasty sites out there. I promise I'll answer any Q's you may have

  4. You can wear anything as long as it is loose, simple, does not attract too much attention, and is appropriate. Dont wear anyhting that shows your body shape, cover your assets as well and round it off with a hijab.

You can always look up these things in websites that display modest Islamic clothings.

  5. I've seen women wear jeans, long sleeved top and a hijab. Or a long skirt, in lieu of the jeans.

  6. I usually wear a long skirt, long sleeved top and hijab.

  7. Abaya and Hijab.  Niqab if they are going to be in the same room as Men.

  8. I always went in my jeans and sweater/hoodie/top. etc. Just makes sure it's long sleeved because your arms need to be covered while praying. I usually keep the scarf in my bag and then put it on when prayers start.

  9. Off the top of my head, I do not believe that women are allowed into mosques.   They pray to Allah at home.  I could be wrong but without googling it, and I don't practice the faith, it seems that is what I remember .

Google "Islamic religion women prayer" and go from there(trusting Wikipedia first) but do read many sites and recognize biased opinions when you see them -garbage in garbage out.

  10. No fashion.  Wear a long loose skirt and long loose top and a scarf tightly on your head, NO HAIR SHOWING.

  11. Wear anything but make sure you're covered from head to toe.

It doesn't matter if u even go in your jeans, because all that matter is going to a mosque and praying from your heart.

  12. Ahhh, a traitor and a denier of Jesus, huh? I'm sure that your father is really proud. Wear whatever you want. Just be sure that you are covered including hijab and that you don't go when the men are there. What size traitor placard would you like with your haircut when the time comes? A large one or an extra large one?

  13. salam

    Welcome to Islam! Alhamdulillah!

I know that it is a big struggle to keep up the prayers and other Islamic practises when your family is against you.

When going to a mosque, be sure that your head is properly covered - no hairs stiking out, skin below chin covered, etc. Cover all skin except face and hands - unless you *want* to cover your face and hands - and, that accomplished, ensure that the shape of your body is obscured.

Bring your Qur'an and your prayer beads, if you have them; and come early. spend time reading the Qur'an, doing dhikr, and making your own personal supplications while you wait for congregational prayers. These bring extra rewards from Allah.

Dhikr is recitation of certain phrases in remembrance of Allah. The simplest one to do with the beads is to make one round of Allahu akbar, one round of alhamdulillah, and one round of subhanallah. "Round" is ticking a bead each time you say the word in question. Some people add an extra Allahu akbar. "Allahu akbar" means "God is great." "Alhamdulillah" means praise be to Allah." "Subhanallah" means "Glory be to Allah."

Supplications are free-form, though some have already been composed that have become popular for their beauty and because important people have recommended them. One is as follows.

Wal hamdu lillahi Rabbil `alamin.

There is no god but Allah, the Forbearing, the Generous. There is no god but Allah, the Eminent, the Great. Glory be to Allah, the Sustainer of the seven heavens and of the seven earths, the Sustainer of all the things in them, and between them, the Lord of the great Throne (Divine Power). And praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.

Another beautiful one is as follows.

O Allah, place light in my heart, light in my tongue, light in my hearing, light in my sight, light behind me, light in front of me, light on my right, light on my left, light above me and light below me; place light in my sinew, in my flesh, in my blood, in my hair and in my skin; place light in my soul and make light abundant for me; make me light and grant me light.

Visiting the mosque can be a beautiful time of solace and worship, especially for the convert who lacks such peace at home. Inshallah those tidbits help to increase that beauty.

  14. Just make sure ur hair is covered and your arms are covered and ur legs are covered.  long sleeves, maybe some sweats even.  I know some girls dress all up like in salwar kameez or abaya, but when i pray, i just wear like sweats and a hoodie and a hijab.

  15. assalam alaikoum,

first of all, welcome to the family! :)

now, for the mosque, if it is your first time, dont be nervous. just wear something modest. you might want to call them and ask for somebody to help you out in wudhu/salat and general information on the mosque. inshallah they offer that service.

if not, have no fear, it is really easy. just ask the nearest brother/sister for help and tell that that you are new. :)
