If you take something to the nth power, or nth level, then it just means that that you can take it to whatever power you want at any integer value onto both positive and negative infinity.

it means any general level - what is the context?  Energy levels in an atom?  Anyway, substitute any number for n, that's what it means.

in math using the letter n means it is unknown.  They are usually looking for a rule for each level

for example when naming shapes

pentagon

hexagon

they run out of words and they call them n-gons where you would just fill in a value for n depending on the problem
