  1. On base percentage plus slugging average.

  2. OPS stands for On Base plus Slugging.

It's the On base percentage (OBP) plus slugging percentage (SLUG).

    OBP is calculate like such

    (a) Add Hits + Walks + Times Hit by Pitch (This sum is the total Times on Base)

    (b) Calculate Total Plate Appearances by adding At Bats (AB), Walks (BB) and times Hit by Pitch (HBP)

    (b) Then divide sum A (Times on Base) into Sum B (Total Plate Appearances)

Then Slugging percentage is when the total bases are added up (singles-1, doubles-2, triples-3, HR-4, BBs dont count) and is divided by the number of At Bats.

Add those 2 together and you get OPS, which most people take to mean overall offense.
