Education? Experience? What?

McCain's choice of Palin for Vice-President was obviously to attract

former Clinton supporters.

What does Palin have in common with Clinton other than that they are both women?

  1. Class.

With Palin, unlike Hillary, I don't get the feeling that she's talking out of the side of her mouth.

    Palin=genuine

Clinton=says what works for her in the current polls.

  2. She's a Republican, which means that she's able to hold office and exercise her power for the people she serves as opposed to being kept down by the Democrat Boy's club.

Knowing how oil companies work is a strength in knowing how to affect the market and create jobs, a major asset when helping to run the country.  Her husband is working class, and seen as more relateable to most people, so it's logical to say that her interests are more vested to serve the working and middle class rather than the elitist circles that the Clintons schmooze into.  I think she brings an understanding of the economy to the table that Clinton may not have.

  3. * She was elected Alaska 's governor a little over a year and a half ago. Her previous office was mayor of Wasilla, a small town outside Anchorage. She has no foreign policy experience.

        * Palin is strongly anti-choice, opposing abortion even in the case of rape or incest.

        * She supported right-wing extremist Pat Buchanan for president in 2000.

        * Palin thinks creationism should be taught in public schools.

        * She's doesn't think humans are the cause of climate change.

        * She's solidly in line with John McCain's "Big Oil first" energy policy. She's pushed hard for more oil drilling and says renewables won't be ready for years. She also sued the Bush administration for listing polar bears as an endangered species—she was worried it would interfere with more oil drilling in Alaska.

        * How closely did John McCain vet this choice? He met Sarah Palin once at a meeting. They spoke a second time, last Sunday, when he called her about being vice-president. Then he offered her the position.

What in the h**l is McCain thinking?  I didn't like him before, I certainly don't like him now, nor do I trust his wisdom or leadership ability.

    As far as Palin:

I know some of you think she is the second coming (for McCain and the GOP) but personally, her positions make me vomit.

  4. Nothing.  Palin has proven by her record that she is  much more qualified than Clinton whose only claim to fame is that she was "married" to a President.  Also, Palin is a beauty - you can finish that thought yourself.

  5. That's all she needs is her connections to oil. And that's all McInsain wants

  6. Why didn't Obama see the benefit of choosing her for VP? The only difference between the two was that Palin was respected for what she could bring to the ticket and Hillary was not.

  7. Their commonalities ends at s*x.

They are polar opposites, and she will only hurt McCain's campaign.

  8. Nothing. That's why women everywhere are insulted and offended. We're not stupid.

  9. Morals for one, conservative ideals instead of socialist ones. Hillary Clinton is just as sleazy as her husband. Palin is outside the DC loop and has a reputation as a reformer. She was a good pick and has effectively united the Republican party. She has brought endorsements from people that said they would not endorse McCain. James Dobson has now endorsed him. Like it or not Dobson reaches alot of people and up until she was choses he had said he would not vote for McCain.

  10. Let it be clear Palin is no (Hillary Clinton) . She doesn't have the experience that hillary dose  so it's laughable no insulting to even mention Palin in the same sentence.  Who is Sarah Palin ? She was elected Alaska 's governor a little over a year and a half ago. Her previous office was mayor of Wasilla, a small town outside Anchorage. She has no foreign policy experience.1

Palin is strongly anti-choice, opposing abortion even in the case of rape or incest.2

She supported right-wing extremist Pat Buchanan for president in 2000. 3

Palin thinks creationism should be taught in public schools.4

She's doesn't think humans are the cause of climate change.5

She's solidly in line with John McCain's "Big Oil first" energy policy. She's pushed hard for more oil drilling and says renewables won't be ready for years. Palin isn't the change this country need so please keep her in Alaska governing the wild life  .

    OBAMA/ BIDEN 2008

  11. a retarded son.

  12. Nothing else in common thank god! Which is why the argument is stupid McCain picked her to win Hillary voters.

  13. Nothing, Thank GOD, PALIN actually Governed a state, Senators have wimpy @ZZ jobs.

  14. The difference is Palin is on a ticket while Hillary isn't.  Plus Palin has executive experience as Governor, which nobody on the Dem ticket has.  It's not a great deal of experience, granted, but it's more than Obama, Clinton and Biden combined.

Edit:  I love you hypocrites who say she's only been Governor for a year and a half, so she has no experience.  Yet Obama has been a Senator for only 3 years, half of which he has spent on the campaign trail and NOT doing the job he was elected to.  Yet he's qualified to be President.  You can't have it both ways, people.  At least her time was spent as an Executive, while Obama has spent most of his time, when he actually shows up, voting on other people's ideas.

  15. nothing in common--it just shows how chauvinistic mccain really is to think any woman can replace Hillary

  16. She seems more Bushlike than Bush himself..

  17. Nothing, this woman is no Hilary

  18. Palin does not have "connection" to big oil. She fought the big oil companies.

    Next...

  19. Why do we assume they have anything in common? If anything, Palin is less severe that Clinton. Also, Palin has no connection to big oil. Im sure Palin can take some of the women vote meant for hillary but also and more importantly take it from obama. mcCain isnt a chauvenist if he deems this woman good enough to be his running mate and has confidence that she can do the job. I mean, what was so great about hilary? She couldnt have the cajones to stand up to her husband, what makes you think she could represent a country. Its time to stop treating hilary as though she were a saint, the only thing that got her that far was being a cutthroat politician like everyone else and telling the people whatever they wanted to hear depending on to whom shes speaking to.

  20. She has an excellent record.  Maybe some of you should get off your fat as*** and find out for yourselves.  Your boy, Nobama, has worked a total of 145 days in the Senate, has missed 25% of votes he should have made and has not introduced one piece of legislation.  Now that's a record you do nothing leftists should love.

  21. Ok we welcome Clinton supporters to vote for McCain but that was not the only reason McCain picked her,Palin fires up the republican base who had some problems with McCain.

  22. In common? Why would we want sarah to have a horn dog husband and break down and cry now and then but what's different is what's important, sarah is much more the fighter and go getter than tired old hillary who just let an idiot like obama walk all over her, and sarah will add to McCain's ticket where as Hillary would have just stole the spotlight and attention away from obama the empty suit who tries to get attention by offering everybody everything which are just tall tales and illusions nothing more than fantasies for children not adults, sarah is not only great, tough and smart she is beautiful and will easily not only become the first woman VP but by far the prettiest////

  23. Palin has nothing on Hillary.

    Education?  NOT

    Experience?  NEVER

And she is connected to big oil.  Her husband, Todd, works for one of the biggest oil companies in the world, British Petroleum.

  24. If you'd care to read Palin's biography, you'd find out she has been fighting big oil.

Also, unlike the Democrats, Palin has fought corruption.

  25. Palin has not sought national office with a fever close to obsession that Clinton has.

Palin was selected. And I believe she weighed heavily what the consequences to her & her family would be to enter the national spotlight. She's already being raked over the coals. Takes guts. So, unlike Hillary's desire for ego gratification, I believe Palin's looking to actually help the country.

  26. Stupid Democrats...

Try and listen in what sequence McCain and Palin say why she was the nominee..

    Reformer

Has appointed Democrats to her administration

(Congress has a 9% approval rating and people are tired of party politics)

    From an oil producing state

(78% of voters want oil drilling)

    The they mention female voters

    Democrats don't get it.

  27. What does Palin have that Clinton doesn't? She can shoot a moose, field dress it and cook it.

What do they have in common? Both are women and both love our country.

  28. Didn't want another Hillary. I would have never voted for Hilary, No way, No How.

Also, she doesn't have a connection to big oil.  She fights them and works with them but there is no connection.

  29. It's hard for people to step outside themselves and realize they are not the center of the universe.

There is a voting bloc larger than Clinton supporters that is absolutely vital to McCain to win.  Those are social conservatives.  Palin comes right out of the heart of that group.  That had to be priority one.

Clinton supporters are not a monolithic bloc.  You have die-hard Democrats, they weren't the target.  But you also have small town voters and conservative feminists.  A lot of them will be peeled away from Obama by this choice.

Her connection to oil companies is kind of love hate.  She supports energy production in America but hasn't been shy about battling oil companies.

She is college educated.  There are no classes in how to be president so all candidates kind of have to fall back on their native intelligence.

As for experience.  Of all the candidates in this race, including third party candidates, I believe she is the only one with executive experience.

There is only one way to learn how to be the manager of a political entity and that is to do it.  I don't believe Obama, Biden, McCain, or Clinton are ready day one.  They are going to be learning.  At least Palin has done this before, albeit on a smaller scale.

And given her track record in Alaska, I would say she has done a pretty good job at it.

  30. She has inexperience which is a big plus I think.

  31. Palin ran a state. Weeded out corruption.  Rebuilt the state's energy tax base.  Hilary ran her Senate office staff and dispensed rhetoric.  Big difference
