What does VIA stand for,like for instance?

Via means "by way of"...so "Elm street via Main" means you will go by Main to get to Elm...

'VIA' means "By way of"!

So, that would mean "M by way of  using, going to or passing thru, Main St."  (it's Italian')

Like going to Rome via the Appian Way.
