I just updated to it (well, using Windows automatic updates) and I don't notice any differences!

  1. Windows sp3 does not provide the user with any new features, it does provide all updates for windows starting from pre sp1 and also fixes a few vurnabilities and security threats in windows.

For the most part sp3 is not yet perfected and another patch will be released in February to fix compatibility issues with sp3 and common off the shelf software. I dont recommend updating to sp3, for the reason at work we run into alot more issues with sp3 rather then sp2. wait till February you have nothing to be concerned about.

  2. I updated a few months ago and there's nothing obvious and no real problems that I could see either.  It incorporates all the security and other updates issued in case you missed any and probably corrects a few other glitches too.

Here is a full list of fixes that are included from the Microsoft TechNet site:

  3. Windows XP SP3 doesn't add any major feature changes like SP2 did, but it does offer a few benefits (at least according to Microsoft) For one thing, SP3 contains all previously released Windows updates beginning with Windows XP SP1, so if for some reason, you haven't updated your computer since SP1 came out, SP3 will take care of that for you. Plus, it's supposed to fix an annoyance with SP2 where the user sometimes would have to restart the computer multiple times after installing updates. After SP3, you should only have to restart your computer once after installing updates. This link will tell your more if you want, as well. Hope that answers your question!
