Does Yale look for students who have been in student council? If not what do they look for in students what GPA, or classes that a high school senior has accomplished?

  1. You should look on their website.

  2. tons of extra curriculars, good grades and an overall good person who will bring something to the campus.

  3. Perfection.

Number 1 or 2 in class with the hardest classes in every subject, 2250 plus SAT, extraordinary accomplishments in activities outside of the classroom. Think Olympic athlete or published author.

  4. This question is asked at the information sessions I've attended for six schools, & the answer always seems to be that they are looking for people who've taken calculated risks & challenged themselves. They will be more impressed by you getting a B or even a C in AP Physics than they will be with an A in regular biology. Demonstrating leadership, creativity and originality is also important. Being on student council shows leadership.

They accepted less than 8% of the applicants last yr, but this doesn't mean that you need to be an Olympic athlete or published author to get in!

Be bold, show that you have an inquisitive mind, write awesome essays & get killer recs.

    You'll find more info here:

I highly recommend going to one of their information sessions.

    Good luck!
