  1. Breakfast in Europe usually consists of breads such as croissant, some juice and jams

  2. Usually stay with family or go to my own place in Hungary but 3 times stayed in a hotel that was part of a spa retreat.

We had a large continental breakfast available to us, meat, cheese, coffee, tea, juices, yougurt, eggs, hot and cold cereals.A large assortment of rolls and breads. We were so stuffed we had to skip lunch.

  3. A basic continental breakfast is bread, butter, jam and coffee or tea.

But in most places there is more available.

There can be cereals, orange juice, eggs, prepared meats and cheese.

    Sometimes even more.

You never know what you will get till you see the breakfast, although most better places will have much more than just the basics.

It also depends on which country, in France the choice is mostly smaller, but with more luxurious bread in the more expensive places, in the Netherlands there will be chocolate sprinkles or spread as well as peanut butter and so on.
