  1. Kitchen prep is the most essential job in the heart of the house. Without prep you do not have a restaurant. We would all like to think that are food is prepared especially for us but in actuallity the meal you ordered is probably ordered 20 more times that day and the ingredients in that meal are probably in at least three other recipes. So where do all these ingredeints come from..... the prepers. From skewering shrimpso it grills faster to cutting lettuce for salads the preppers touch almost everything that come out of a kitchen.

  2. They get to slice and dice onions....stir stuff so it doesnt burn... then they move up to more complex things as they build their skills and develop their talents.  It is a nice way to decide if you have what it takes to become a chef.

  3. Prep means to get the vegetables and meat cut and set up for the shift that the cook is working.

  4. the kitchen prep is in charge of making sure all preparations are ready for the chef or cook. the dutys usually include making salads, marinating meats, and having everything on hand as the chef or cook may need them.

  5. They get everything ready that will be served during the shift, i.e. peel the potatoes, portion sides, chop onions, basically just 'prep' everything so it's easier during the shift to grab the stuff you need.  It's a pretty good job because you get paid kitchen wages, and it's not hectic because it's not while the restaurant is jam packed, and you get to work by your self.

  6. kitchen prep... does all prep that is need in the main kitchen like portioning meat making sauces, cutting salad, doing up veggies and any other prep work they need...
