  1. It all depends on where you get the job and what the requirements for a lube tech would be at that particular shop. Most places I've seen if they supply your tools for you they start the lube techs from $8 - $10 if you have no experience, and about $12 if you have about 1 or more years. Places that go where you have to bring your own tools usually start at double what minimum wage would be. Duties you perform depends on the shop also. For example, jiffy lube might have you do nothing but oil changes, but walmart might have you do oil and tires. If you are a lube tech at a dealership it depends on what the service manager wants you to do. I'm a lube technician at a luxury car dealership and they have me do anything from changing oil and tires to reprogramming the cars ECMs. Sometime even more work like replacing subframes. BUT, even though I do all that work my official job title is still Lube Tech, and I still only get paid $9per hour.

  2. Been changing oil for two and half years now..im swapping jobs to do lube and tires up the road...Iv ALWAYS been the top guy. Not droppng the oil and such..so now i get to do it ALL...iv been doing some bottoms here my last few weeks up here..the only worrys i have is stripped plugs n such..and the tires, i dont think thatll be to bad, they will train me..but if your not a people person and dont want to put up with STUPID people, dont do this job...it gets OLD....and if u dont want to be smelly and nasty after work, warning! oil can cause cancer! ...havent felt n different yet so..HAVE FUN ! and btw...if you can make 100k a year, i want to know where, iv only seen 20k..and theres a master here and he makes about ummm 20k a year from 35 years of doing it.

  3. A lube tech is a demanding job. Time managment and efficency are tasks that i look for when hiring. The other things to do are tires, brake services, shop mantainance and this could lead to a job that will pay over 100,000.00
a year when your become a master technician... do you have the skills or just like pushing a pencil all day
