  1. a plethora of restrictions means a lot of boundaries. i think that the novel is 1984, if so some restrictions newspeak gives to its people are:

    - not being able to communicate

    - not being able to express feelings of despair

    - not being ableto plan a plot against the party

    - irony used like when O&#039;brien is torturing winston and tells him that he is inasane while in fact it is O&#039;Brien who is insane

    - paradox, the 3 slogans of the party war is peace, freedom is slavery.....
