I went into a fairly large nyc restaurant, seeking a waitstaff position, but instead was hired as a captain. There already is a maitre de and a hostess. Does anybody know what that entails? My first day is tomorrow. I never told them I worked as a captain before, so I assume they will train me. I have to wear a suit, so probably won't be taking orders and running food. We also have not discussed wages yet. Does anyone know how much a captain makes? I know every place is different, but is it usually just a percentage of the tips? Thanks.
