What does a captain of a sport need to contain?

My volleyball team is having a vote on who should be captain. I want to run for captain but i don't no what to say in my speech. WHAT KIND OF THINGS SHOULD I INCLUDE?? How long should he speech be?? Is it ok if i just read from index cards (because I am not good at memorizing).

I was just elected the captain of my volleyball team! You basically need leadership. Say you'll help everyone out whenever they need it, you'll listen to everyone's ideas on improving the team, and index cards is a good idea.
