  1. Most large consignors have cards that list every horse available for showing that day.  The card person keeps these cards, along with pens or pencils, and passes them out to interested buyers to fill out.  The buyer fills out their name and other information, and checks off each horse that they want to see.  The card person then collects the card and assigns a show person (or people) to get the chosen horses ready, and bring them out for the potential buyer to see.  Then they give the finished cards to the consignor, who uses the information to see which horses are getting the most action, and from whom.  This can help determine reserve at the sale itself.  A lot of action from really high profile buyers might mean a jump in reserve price, while very little interest might mean a lowering of the price.
