After it has fallen out? My 5 yo just lost her first baby tooth.. But when I look at the gum it looks like there is something still in there.. It kinda sticks out a little.. And the tooth has a hole in the bottom where it was attached to the gum.. Is that what its suppose to look like? Or could there be some part of the tooth still in the gum?? Thank you.. This is my first time with my children losing teeth..

  1. My daughter just lost her 3rd tooth last night and it looked just the way you described. It is normal and the extra gum area should disappear.

  2. sounds good -follow up with the dentist.  the tooth fell out because the tissue inside of it died.

  3. yeah, that's normal.  it's the new tooth already pushing up and causing the other baby tooth to fall out.

  4. It does kind of look strange doesn't it, but yes, that's what it's supposed to look like.  You'll see the adult tooth coming in very quickly now since you can already see it.

Congrats on your daughter's first tooth!  My kids didn't lose their teeth until they were 7.

  5. hahah thats soo cute!..yes thats the way the lose tooth is supposed to look!..thats where it was attatched to the gum...if u see something where the hole is..thats just the "grown up" tooth coming out!..that was too cute of a question!
