  1. Hello,..Let me tell you that I was and am a Dental Technician with 42 years experience and if your a person with a very high creative ability and personality, you would find being a Dental Technician very rewarding. You can specialize in one of the technology specialities such, as Full dentures, Partial dentures, Crown & Bridge, Ceramics, Orthodontic appliances or Reconstruction appliances. While those are speciality areas, they require a combination of skills involving the other specialities in order to create the appliances of a speciality. Financial compensation will be based on the speciality you choose and your skills in that speciality. You can also acquire the education and ability to perform in more than one speciality...Over all there are four levels of professional recognition in the Dental technology field..(!) General Technician, meaning you learn to do a production line procedure that doesn't require a specific specified speciality education or testing for official recognition, or (2) You can complete a prescribed education and hands on experience that qualifies you to take an examination that, when successfully passed, will designate you as a C.D.T. (Certified Dental Technician) or (3) You can further expand your education and hands on abilities in several dental technology specialities and become an M.D.T. (Master Dental Technician), Meaning that you have the ability to perform in "all" the technology specialities and finally you can still further your education and abilities and become a C.D. (Certified Denturist), meaning that after passing a State Licensing Board Examination, you will be licensed to own and operate a private "Denturist Practice", in which you can provide denture services "directly" to the public. One of the best colleges around that can provide the dental technology education you need is the Bates College in the state of Washington...You can go on line and check them out at this address:    http://www.bates.edu/.....Good luck and I wish you well.
