Question:

What does a desert tortoise contribute to the environment?

I'm writing a paper for school, and now that I'm almost done, I can't think of what a desert tortoise contributes to the environment. They really don't do anything. Not that I can think of. Anyone have any ideas what they might do for the environment, or people?

  2. They can make holes in the earth which other animals will use for nesting areas after they refine the hole to fit their needs.

    They help re seed plants from different areas through the things they eat.

  3. there biggest benefit to the environment is the holes they dig for there homes once they leave a hole it can become a home small animals,lizards,ground birds,there droppings can help as fertilizer and the hatched egg shells add nutrients to the soil.There burrowing is the biggest asset to nature.
