YOU DON'T MENTION THE YEAR OF THE CAR. IT MORE THAN LIKELY IS TELLING YOU IT'S TIME FOR SERVICE,OIL CHANGE,ETC.

THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT LOOKS LIKE AN ENGINE NOT A WRENCH.

GIVE YOUR DEALER A CALL,OR BETTER YET ACQUAINT YOURSELF WITH YOUR OWNER'S MANUAL.

Best guess is a check engine light.  MOST check engine lights will come on a just glow.  Usually a blinking check engine light means if you don't turn it off immediately and call for a tow the party is over and sell it for parts.  Ask me, I'm an expert on not stopping when it flashes.  Flashing usually means red alert, turn it off.
