  1. USMC infantry deploys just as if there were war. Nothing ever changes for the USMC..When not deployed to a war zone they are training to deploy somewhere in the world..

Deployments is not a Iraq War "term"..Life goes on just as if there was no war..

  2. Training. And then some more training. And then a deployment. And then more training.

Just because the country's not a war doesn't mean they don't deploy.

  3. Training. They also do humanitarian thing's both in time's of war and peace. They build water pipe's,school's ETC.

  4. Train, train, train.  Train some more.

  5. Just in case "Training, training and more training" is a little vague...

All soldiers have a set of tasks they need to know how to do, like marksmanship, battle drills, whatever. The usual routine is a series of field training events that involve going to a training area and practicing those tasks, in addition to going to firing ranges where they practice with their weapons.

When units aren't deploying all the time, they usually gradually train up for an NTC rotation where the whole brigade goes to NTC in California, or JRTC in Louisiana and they fight a simulated war.

  6. Well the good thing about the re-emergence of Islamic fundamentalism is that you won't have that much of a break between wars...

  7. As others have said, you train.

The military is our insurance policy against countries who would do us harm.

As with most insurance policies, you hope that you will never need it but you always keep it up to date to match any foreseeable events.

That being said, it really depends on who is running the country at the time.

There are short sighted folks who think that a strong military force is not needed in times of peace.

If and when such people are in power, the military spends a good deal of time dismantling itself.

It has happened in the past and is quite likely to happen again.

  8. Training, training, and more training...
