  1. I'm a PO, and there's no such thing as a Group Supervisor in the ranks above me.  Group Supervisors (also called Group Counselors, Probation Counselors, etc) in my county supervise minors in custody at either Juvenile Hall (which in CA is run by the Probation Departments) or at other custodial facilities like what we call "the ranch."  I'm pretty sure that's the job you're referring to.


  2. They would supervise a few probation officers.  I would say the pros are better money than PO, but they take a lot more **** from above, they also spend most all of their time doing paperwork.  I wouldn't recommend unless you have already been a PO and are burnt out.
