What does a headgirl / boy do?

Depends on what and where they are head of.

they do lots of presentations, talks to parents in presentation evenings, acts as the main voice of the students...  depends really on you school.

Represent the students - set a good example - make the occasional speech - liaise with tutors and others - such as Governing board members.  In the UK - would traditionally also be Captain of the rugby soccer hockey or lacrosse team - or some very eloquent youth who could win others over in the Debating Society.

I only know from Harry Potter, but I believe they guide the younger students to classes and show them around?
