What does a mix and medium do?

i no many ppl use it for eyeshadows but what exactly does one do

  1. If you have powdery eyeshadows that doesn't have alot of color payoff, a mixing medium of 3/4 water and 1/4 glycerin (found in drug stores) or even contact/eye drop solution makes the eyeshadows have more color payoff...

    It's like just using wet eyeshadow, howing a mixing medium is more "thick" and it holds the shadow together more.


  2. I just also want to add that MAC's fix+ can also be a substitute for the mixing medium. And unless the eyeshadows are designed to be used wet, don't! Otherwise you'll get a hard crust on the eyeshadow and practically destroy it. Pigments, on the other hand, can be used wet without any problems. :)
