  1. Why do you think homeschoolers would have this information? Homeschoolers in Texas don't worry about accreditation usually. There's no need to. A high school diploma your parents give you is legit in Texas--you don't need accreditation. A high school diploma from any online school is legit. It doesn't need to be accredited.

Maybe you should find yourself a Texas homeschool group in Yahoo Groups to ask all of your questions and get the necessary discussion going to properly explain this to you. This really isn't the best place, apparently, since you are asking pretty much the same question over and over.

  2. It varies from place to place.

The Florida Virtual School awards a Florida diploma, however only Florida residents can take it for free.

Some K12.com programs are accredited because they are done in tandem with state schools in your state

Penn Foster is accredited by a Washington DC school system, but NY State will not accept Penn Foster as a ciriculum.

Penn Foster University is accredited by Arizona to grant BS degrees

So any Arizona State university or College should take a Penn Foster degree and allow you to apply for graduate school.

  3. The same as a "bricks" school.

You should look for a regional accreditation.  Example: Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

I'm not sure which region covers Texas, but you should look for <region> Association of Colleges and Schools as the accrediting body.

It is possibly that Texas has some sort of state level accreditation but if a school has the accreditation I mention above you can be sure it is really accredited.

  4. Mu understanding is that Texas has virtually no standards when it comes to homeschooling, so I doubt they care what curriculum you use.

Check out the HSLDA website for requirements for each state.  It will let you know the minimum requirements for Texas.

That said, I suggest you use a regionally or nationally  accredited curriculum so that colleges will not dispute the validity of the education.  It will also insure that your educaiton is equal to or better than what is offered by the public school systems.

  5. They have to know that you are learning the right materials and will be just as proficient as those coming out of public and private schools. Accredited means pretty much accepted and legitimate. A high school diploma equivalent from home schooling needs to be legitimate.
