  1. An ancestor is someone who came BEFORE you and is directly related to you and is either a parent or a degree of grandparent, whether it is a great grandparent or a twenty seventh great grandparent. (In other words, the number of greats don't matter)  

    SO, if you want to know the parents of an ancestor, you are simply looking for the parents of one of your forefathers (or foremothers!)


  2. Parents of an ancestor means just that--the mother and father of, for instance, your great great grandfather (which would be, in turn, your great great great grandparents).
