  1. TUne up is usually Oil change, spark plugs, rotor, air filter, any other liquids it needs, an inspection, and maybe brakes.

  2. Tune Ups on most modern cars consist of changing the spark plugs and plug wires, replacing the air filter, replacing the fuel filter, cleaning the throttle body, checking the ignition timing. There really isn't much more to do for a basic tune up.

Yes, a tune up like that would most likely fix the hesitation problem on your car especially if you haven't had one done in awhile.

There are more extensive tune ups you can do usually as part of routine periodic maintenance. Your owners manual does have a guide for what should be done at what intervals. Most folks don't follow it though.

  3. Spark Plugs? Doesn't it have injectors?

I'd rather blame it on a dirty, clogged fuel filter.

Inexpensive to change, might fix the problem.

  4. Depends on who you are asking.

To me a tune up would be spark plugs, spark plug wires, fuel filter, oil filter and etc.

Though even that doesn't sound really worthy of the term tune up to me, replacing all that stuff is pretty much just racheting for 30 minutes.

  5. change the gas and air filter, clean out the throttle body, new plugs and plug wires, if it has a distributor, change the cap and rotor, change the oil and filter, pcv valve. that,s a good start. for starters, i would change the gas filter and plugs, both can cause hesitating.

  6. do what Pappy says...follow the recommended maintenance schedule according to your mileage.

In addition to a basic tuneup you should have your fuel injectors cleaned as you said your car hesitates. That may be a contributing factor and a good shop will perform this service.

    Good luck!

  7. hello jenny!! a complete tune-up consists of oil change, replacing: oil filter, air filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires (if necessary), fuel filter, oxygen sensor and distributor cap.
