What does a sander do for your cue tip on your cue stick?

What does it do for it and is it good?

The ones in your picture are more for shaping up a new tip.

I carry a small piece of sand paper in my pocket to scuff up the tip a little so chalk will stick to it better, I'll rub the tip on a concrete floor sometimes to do the same thing.

You don't have to do it very hard it's just to make it a little rough so the chalk will stick.

think of it as aerating like you can do with grass it allows more chalk on the tip making the  strike of the cue ball smoother making sure one does not miss cue or throw the shot
