What does a school counselor usually do/ask about on your first appointment?

They ask you how you're doing and then you say "good"

After, they just sit in stare, waiting for you to talk.

It's very awkward.

But that's just my experience.

If you're talking about college counselors they usually ask you what your plans are you education and make sure that you are signed up for the correct courses. They usually also ask if you've filed all paper work or if you have any special needs. Tell you of your options for taking test in the testing center and tutors that are available to you. BUT mostly they ask if you have any questions. Some counselors act like theres not a lot to talk about. So make so you ask any and every question you have..Thats their jobs.
