What does a sign BILL mean along a railroad track??

We were riding along an active railroad line and saw a blue and white vertical sign saying "BILL". Does anyone know what that means??

  1. I've never heard of that, but it may have been a local application.

    On the railroads, blue and white signs mean "Men At Work", and have those words on them.  At night, a blue light means men at work.

    You've got me curious now.  I hope someone knows.

    There are lots of signs for track workers and train crews but thats totally new to me.

  4. I'v seen signs that say "BELL"...these are to remind you to "Make some noise", (Bell and Whistle), as dispatch says... for trackside workers...but IDK about BILL
