  1. UGHHHH...that's what it means!  I also have a protrusion and it can definately be unbearing.  My situation affects my sciatica nerve which causes my right leg to tingle and get "caught".  The ONLY thing that has really made things more tolerable was epidural blocks.  I have had this problem for 8 years....the epidural blocks worked so well that the last one I had was in Oct of 05.  Check into a pain management physician.  Good luck with that.  If you are in litigation for the motor vehicle accident not being your fault...MAKE SURE YOU SEEK COMPENSATION as you will likely have this for life!

  2. The Disc is between the Vertebra, bones that make up the spine. The disc has a nice hard outer shell and it contains some nice soft jelly material. As we age the jelly dehydrates, making the disc shrink, so by the time we are 60-65, we no longer have the jelly, which acts as a cushion. That is why you never see people of 65 at the Olympics, doing the long jump, no cushion of the spine. The idea is to get from 20-65 without damaging those important discs. In your case the Cervical 5 vertebra and the disc between 5 and C6 had protruded. That means the nice jelly has put pressure on the outer shell and cause it to bulge. So instead of say it being nice and round, it is now oval shape. However as to how this happened? I have a prolapse of my lumbar disc and was not in any accident? As to the future? You do not state if this is causing you any problems? Best of Luck

  3. It means your C5-6 spinal disc is sticking out a bit more than normal.
