Hi I am trying to rent a two bedroom apartment near ipanema/copacabana area for under 1000USD a month. I dont need a penthouse just something decent and not embarassing. Every real estate agent on the internet claims i cannot find a place near this area for this much? I find that hard to believe and I heard you can get them cheaper. Does anyone know if you can find a place for under 1000USD that is still nice near this area? Thank you!

  1. yea... I've heard that too... but I bet its not easy to find.. especially online.  i  haven't done much research online either..   but   heres one website I saved a while ago..   It prob wont be much help ..  prob all more then $1000 but u never know..

The site is writen in english.. so i suspect it will be high cost since they are trying to sell it to tourists..

The only thing i can think of is.. the further away from the beach you rent.. the cheaper..     instead of getting something right on the beach..  get something 3 blocks inland

  2. Hi there...my sister and her boyfriend are both lawyers in Rio, and they just got an awesome 2-bedroom in Ipanema with an underground garage (which is quite rare in Rio)for R$1600 (including monthly maintance fees). That's less than $800 a month. Now, if you're looking for a short-term lease, things might be different. In that case you are pretty much at the mercy of the short-term lease industry targeting foreigners from the first world. In that case, be prepared to be ripped off. Also, since you might not be a legal resident of Brazil, and might not have a bank account and a regular job there, things could be a little tricky as far as trying to rent through a regular real estate agency. If you are able to rent as just a "regular" person and sign a one-year lease, there's no reason in the world why you should have to pay more than $1000 a month for a decent apartment in a nice area of Rio.

    Good luck!!!

  3. I have a one bedroom apartment in Barra da Tijuca. Also I know some friends that own apartments and rent out to tourists. Email me if you're interest.
