  1. It means the right lane goes in one direction and the left lane goes in the opposite direction. To overtake a car you have to invade the left lane but you need to be careful when you do it, and you will have to get into the right lane asap after having overtaken the car. The continuous white line means you have to stay on the right lane except when you are overtaking.

  2. continuous or broken line?, and is it bi directional?

  3. the traffic is moving in the same direction.

A solid line prohibits lane changes

A broken line permits lane changes

  4. If it is a solid white line it generally divides two lanes that travel the same direction, and is supposed to tell you not to change lanes.

  5. the white line is the bicycle lane

  6. It means the dumb b*%$# that hit you better have insurance!!

  7. If it is a two lane road with a white dash center line it is a one way road in both lanes...if the line in the center is yellow dash it is a two way road.

The white line between on ramp lanes and the main road are not to be crossed. the same with an off ramp white line on the frontage road is not to be crossed. I see people everyday who do not adhere to this restriction.
