  2. Right near 200 tons a copy, as an average, for GM and GE in the US.

    Four units in multiple, 800 tons.  When I last looked, 10 units maximum, lite engine (no cars).

  3. Around 100-150 tonnes is a typical UK and Europe ballpark figure.

    But note that Multiple Units are much more common for passenger use these days.

  5. Was looking at one of our(CSX) new GE's a few days ago... The tag said it weighed  439,000 pounds...it was a 6 axle  4400 horsepower locomotive...
