  1. Either 150 yds. from the hole or out of bounds (OB).

  2. It is the 150 yard mark.  Distances on most golf courses are measured to the middle of the green.

  3. It means 150 yards from the hole

  4. A white stake on a golf course can indicate one of several options. If it is in a fairway it indicates a yardage of 150 yards to the center of the green. If it is one of several boundary stakes, it indicated territory which is out of bounds. If it is one of a series of white stakes within the course along a fairway, it indicates an internal out of bounds inserted for safety reasons where fairways run parallel to one another. White stakes can also be used to indicate a hazardous condition such as a sink hole.

  5. That's where they found the body.

  6. A white stake on the golf course means OB or out of bounds. A red stake means hazard. Sometimes you can see other stakes in the middle of the fairway that mark 100, 150, and 200 yards from the center of the green. These are usually red and white, black and white, and blue and white respectively.

  7. White stakes or white lines are used to indicate out-of-bounds. (A course can mark out-of-bounds in other ways, too; for example, a fence might mark the boundary along certain parts of a course.)

When stakes (or a fence) indicate out-of-bounds, then out-of-bounds begins at the nearest inside point of the stakes at ground level (excluding any kind of angled supports). When a line is used to indicate out-of-bounds, the line itself is out-of-bounds.

Out-of-bounds brings the dreaded stroke-and-distance penalty - a golfer must assess himself a 1-stroke penalty, return to the spot of the previous shot and hit it again. Of course, that's time consuming. So when a golfer believes his ball may be OB, it's a good idea to hit a provisional ball.

  8. Out of Bounds

  9. It's Out of Bounds.

the 150 is white & Black!

  10. The white stake you find in the middle of the fairway means you are 150 yards from the middle of the green. The white stakes along the boundaries of the hole indicate out of bounds.

  11. For those giving thumbs down to people saying it's the 150 yard stake, I've played on dozens of courses where the 150 yard stake was solid white.

  12. I believe its saying your 200 yards from the pin or from where you drove from. Not sure what one.
