  1. It means the AP's are right there in the delivery room with their catcher's mitts on.

  2. I think adoption at birth simply means that the child goes straight from the hospital to to the adoptive parents, and is legally relinquished soon after, rather then a child who is a foster child first, or is not relinquished or adopted until they are at least a few months old.

  3. I have a feeling this is some kind of trick question lol but anyways here is my experience when I say I was adopted "at birth":

My bio-mom discovered she was pregnant and had decided she didn't want children at that time in her life.  So she had spoken with social services and they arranged for me to be put up for adoption.  I was born and was in the hospital for three days which at the time was standard medical procedure to keep mom and babe in hospital for around that amount of time to ensure there were no complications, and on the third day my adoptive parents came and picked me up.    Now-a-days adoption from birth is usually open adoption and the adoptive parents are either there before the birth (experiencing the pregnancy I guess like a father would), at the birth, or in the waiting room.

  4. It means that the baby goes home with the adoptive parents from the hospital.  That was the case with all 3 of our children.

  5. A visual of the joy of adoption at birth

  6. it means your mother gave birth then handed you straight over

  7. i think it means that a woman signs off all rights to a couple for adoption as soon as the babys born. the couple gets  to take it home. the mother has no more rights to it. adoption just signs the last name over permantly.

  8. rainia hit it on the dot. the adoptive parents may also go to the sonagrams and doctors appointments when possible. mine did. she even flew in for false labor and stayed a week while we waited.

  9. It means that a newborn infant, who has spent his whole life in his mother's warm, nurturing womb, is taken from her, and given to strangers to adopt.
