  1. it means you aint professional lol, you have to fight as an amateur before you can be a pro, you cant just be a pro haha.

it might have also been a message from your trainer...that your c**p

  2. Amatuer boxing is where everybody starts, even Tyson and Lewis.

Amatuer: Shorter rounds, shorter quantity of rounds usually around 5, must wear headgear, must wear top/shirt, usually won by scoring, your corner and coach cannot grease/wax or stop bleedings, but usually you dont get that in Amatuer boxing as a very small percentage is KO'd

Proffesional: No headgear, longer rounds around 12 rounds, no tops allowed, wins are usually won by KO's, your corner can grease/wax and stop your bleedings.

Amatuer is someone who doesnt have experience yet, its not something bad, first you need to prove your ground in less risky Amatuer before you hit the Pros, Olympic Boxing is amatuer too

  3. it mean dat you is a newbie, and if you tried to fight a real boxing match you would get schooled.

Most fighters have more than 50 ammature fight before they go pro.

After you go pro ytour first 10 or 20 fights you make no money- sometimes getting a few bucks per round your survive.

I fought amature and professional but never hads a good record and never got rich. haha

  4. It means:

    1. you won't get any money

    2. you wear the same head gear that you wear when you train

    3. the fight is scored differently than a pro fight

    4. chances are very good that if either fighter gets even a small cut, the fight is stopped

    5.  there is a mercy rule that will stop the fight early if you are getting your **** whipped

  5. two horrible answers and two incomplete ones.

An amateur simply means that you are unpaid, not a professional. It comes from a Latin word meaning "to love a craft" so an amateur does their sport for love, not money.

It is true that most successful professional boxers started as amateurs, and just about every champion had a lot of amateur fights before turning pro.

Rounds are scored differently, each punch landed counts,  and when I was boxing there were three three-minute rounds. Usually the gloves are a bit bigger. And the referee will generally stop a one-sided fight pretty quickly.

You'll want to get an AAU card---Amateur Athletic Union. Train hard, do what your trainer tells you, keep your eyes open and your mouth shut, and have fun. If you want more advice, e-me.

  6. amateur means you love it (to love) but it has gained a derogatory meaning sometimes (saying someone is just an amateur as a form of a put-down)
