  1. Get a degree in Aviation and do the Management option. Most of the aviation courses in Aviation Management are the same as they are in Aviation Science except there are a few business credits added in. This direction supports your aspirations of becoming a pilot and also opens the door to management for any type of corporation.

    Aviation Jobs other Than Pilots:

    Airport Management

    Dispatcher

    ATC

    Aircraft Maintenance Management

    FAA  Inspector

    Department of Transportation

You could also work with Trucking Companies which are hiring people with degrees and transportation backgrounds like crazy right now.

With a degree related to management, the opportunities are limitless.

  2. I would recommend anything but an aviation degree since  getting furloughed at least once in an airline career is always a good possibility.  I would say 95% of the guys I fly with  don't have Aviation Degrees.

  3. No, don't get an Aviation Science degree.

  4. Not too many choices , but you can try Aviation Engineering , Airport management (not really help full) , or maintenance.

  5. a degree in aerospace or aeronautical engineering is preferred to aviation science.

it shows also you hav a high level of maths...

  6. A BS in Aviation Engineering would be better. It's close to a ME Mechanical Engineering degree & there is lots of work in that field.... but.. Of all the 'Right' seaters I've flown with in 20 plus years, I can count on one hand the ones who have a 4 year degree in aviation. One of the best pilots has a degree in Art History.....

  7. The benefit of an aviation degree vs. any other degree from an accredited school is minimal. As you've already stated, its important to get a degree in something you can make money at when you aren't getting paid to fly. I got my undergrad in Computer Science. Looks good on resumes today with our integrated cockpits. I then got an MBA later.

  8. It might help in getting a job bagging groceries. They really don't care what your major was. Any good liberal arts major will do fine.
