What does an ankle tattoo feel like?

Yep, it will hurt.  I thought it felt like constant little cat scratches.  The second the artist lifts the needle up the pain stops, and he lifts it often to wipe the inked area clean.

I got mine on my ankle when I was 17, it happened to bleed alot, but I think that was the poor tatoo artist that I went to.  It only took 15 minutes, and anyone can handle some pain for 15 minutes, especially if this is something you are really commited to doing.  It is nearly 10 years later and, no, I do not regret it!

Ankle is a painful place to get a tattoo i have one on my wrist and it didn't hurt but my mum got one on her ankle and said it was more painful than the one she has at the back of her neck and the one on here boob lmaoo!

Should be okay depends on your pain threshold

I got one on right above my left ankle (on the outside) back in May. I don't have a high pain tolerance, I am a total wuss. But it wasn't that bad.

On a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 6. Maybe a 7 when it went over the bone. It's really more irritating than anything else, and after awhile you don't even notice it.

Also, take a friend or someone with you. I had told my friend to keep talking to me and keep up a conversation to take my mind away from it, and it worked! It took the focus off the tattoo, and put my focus on the conversation.

It will be worth it in the end, I promise!

i got one with my son`s name haylin cobain and it hardly hurts it just feels like something kind of painful it drawing on your leg kind of like a pen

Oh my gosh! My brother is a wonderful tattoo artist, so my sister and I went to him to get matching tattoos on our ankles. Mine hurt so bad that I was soaked with sweat and she decided to get hers on her calf instead! What a wuss. Now, though, it's beautiful and I love it, but boy! did it hurt like crazy while he was applying it. It literally felt as though he was ripping the flesh from my ankle with a steak knife.

Ankles are a tough spot especially if you are going to get something that requires a lot of shading or coloring...Anything on the bone hurts--the level of pain just depends on the person.

It's the worst pain since it's on the bone.....hope you don't get something you cannot finish mine was torture and I regret getting it there.

I didnt find mine as painful  as people said...it was more painful than my lower back, but less painful than my stomach tatoo!

Hint-sometimes it helps if you take a paracetamol half hour before the tatoo as it will start to work and numb some of the pain!

There will be alot of vibration when the needle is on the boney part of the ankle.  It is more irritating than painful.

It feels like a cat scratch, or a bee sting. Its entirely tolerable.
