We have this project in school . We have to make our own Baptismal Scrapbook. Except that i'm a boy and i don't know how to do a scrapbook. [ since girls usually do scrapbooking ]

Do the pictures have to be big? Are scrapbooks "messy"?

And are scrapbooks in a "horizontal" form? or a " vertical" form?

Pls. help me. My project is due anytime next week. Others have started already but I didn't. HELP!!

Thank you SO MUCH!

  1. since it sounds like you've never scrapbooked before, you should probably stick to the basics, just paper, photos and some embellishments (stickers, buttons, ribbon etc). go to a shop like walmart or big w, and in the craft section there should be some cheap stuff you can use. if you don't want to spend any money, you can just use stuff you already have.

scrapbooks can be any shape and size at all, you can get pre-made ones and just slip the pages in, or you can make your own out of paper/cardboard, a pizza box (you can get them without the pizza), an old book (a good idea is one of your old board books), coasters, wood, anything flat enough really.

some people make their scrapbooking really neat, but in my opinion it looks boring. i wouldn't call my kind of scrapbooking messy, but it's not structured either. kind of in between. here are some layouts (that's what pages are called in scrapbooking) to give you some ideas, just scroll down and click on the icons.

since this is a school project it probably doesn't need to be that good, just thought this might help.

here are some tips for scrapbooking...

*don't stick your photos straight down on the background. try matting (putting a piece of paper slightly bigger than the photo under it), framing the photo, sanding the egdes (with sandpaper) stitching around the edges of the photo (you don't need to stich all the way around, and it doesn't have to be neat, as long as asll the knots and mistakes are on the back so you can't see them), or inking the edges (swipe the edges on a stamp pad).

*if you want it to last, make sure all the things you use are acid and lignen free. (this doesn't include any tools, it does include adhesives like glue and tape.)

*if you make a mistake, repeat it so it looks intentional. (this doesn't always work, eg if you spell something wrong, but usually you can pull it off and no one will notice if you don't tell them.)

*always practice your journalling (writing) in a notebook or scrap paper before you write it on the page.

*don't be afraid to take risks, except where colour co-ordination is concerned.

*you said it was  a baptismal scrapbook, so you will probably be temped to use fairly plain  papers, but it will probably look boring if you do that for the whole album.

*embellishments don't have to be relevent to the subject of the page. some things that almost always look good are playing cards, keys and flowers (although since you're a boy you might want to steer clear of anything girly like flowers).

*you would be surprised at how good times new roman and georgia (fonts) look in scrapbooking. journalling looks really good printed off the computer. don't use jokerman, curlz mt, arial or kristen itc, they look out of place.

well i hope this helped, good luck with your project!

  2. go to a store that sell the books and ask them for help

  3. scrapbooks can look like whatever you want them to.  It's your own ideas put into it.  Be creative.
