  1. They are dangerous, don't ever buy one

  2. You can get a cheap one at wal-mart for like $10, but I don't know if that would work as good as an older hand made one.

A ouija board is a board with letters on it, that is offten used for talking to the dead. Its really niffty, but to be honestly I've never gotten one to work.

I've known people to be scared to death of them, and have heard stories, but personally, I've seen nothing, and felt nothing while using one. To me its just a game party favor, and nothing to waste your time with.

  3. A ouija board enables spirits to spell out messages to the living.  You can make your own instead of buying them.  But I highly recommend you not to use it if you are not well-versed in the occult because things can go wrong.  In most cases, once a spirit comes, they won't want to leave.

  4. The Ouija board actually doesn't do anything. You and your friends do everything. The Ouija board consists of the board with letters and numbers, yes and no, and a planchette. Everybody places a hand on a planchette, which is a piece that you use to locate letters and numbers on the board. After a while, the planchette starts moving. It seems mysterious and magical like it is moving by itself, but actually it is moving due to the ideomotor effect (see link). There is nothing supernatural about it. Ideomotor effect also explains why dowser's rod cross and why a medium holding a pendulum can will swing it in one direction or another. With a Ouija board, all you need is 2 people in order to create the illusion of a magically moving planchette, though 3 or 4 may work better. The planchette never moves on its own, which is the big clue that there are no spirits pushing it around.

Using the ideomotor effect, the players can spell out words and sentences. The myth is that a spirit is actually controlling the planchette and giving you a message from the beyond, but of course that is hogwash.

If you're interested, you can pick up a Ouija board at Toys R Us for $23, recommended for ages 8-15 yrs. And it is glow in the dark too!  Evil spirits sold separately.

  5. I do not recommend you buy one.If you really want to know what they do.If you will not forget about them. Then read this, all of it.

  6. The ouija board and the pendulum both work by ideomotor response. Google ideomotor, there isnt room here.

  7. They open the door to the occult.  A psychiatrist once said that a large portion of his clientelle in an asylum had all been involved with ouija boards. (Back in the 1970's).

When the bible speaks about not touching such things, I would have to believe God knows what he is talking about.

  8. dont mess with that stuff

  9. An Ouija (pronounced "wee-jee") board once started off an 'just a game' in the 1800's. It was a palor game. After 7 years of its existence, it changed into something people claim to be 'sinister'. It is not known as a board with letters and numbers used by people who are attempting to communicate with ghosts or spirits.

A lot of people believe it is evil, and they use the bible to support this idea - God says these things are evil, and are Satanic. A lot of people believe it is a way of 'communicating with the devil'.

The board has a the following written on it:

"Yes", "No", Maybe" "Goodbye" - the alphabet, and the numbers "0 - 9", (sometimes even "Hello" is written on there). Supposedly, the fingers of the participants are placed on the planchette (small pointer piece) which then moves about on the board, over the numbers and/or letters and symbols spelling out messages (often from spirits, when asked questions).

Skeptical people though often say that the person controlling the planchette is just messing around with you (or your friends) for entertainment.

Be warned though, there are reports of summoning evil spirits, and some people even claim sometimes using an Ouija board causes a spirit to 'hang around' after the session.

To buy an Ouija board, just head down to the local 'game selling outlet' (or buy one online at a place like Amazon), and you should be able to pick one up for less than $20. But then of course, you have to ask yourself if the 'game' and 'board' itself are genuine or not?

  10. Ouija boards are used by spiritualists to contact the other side. This of course is subject to belief. The board has letters, numbers and yes, no, farewell, etc. There is a movable pointer indicator called a planchette. You simply ask the spirits a question and the planchette moves via spirit power across the board to answer your question.  A typical session with the board has two or more people touching the planchette with at least one hand each, so that no single person need apply much force in order for the group as a whole to cause it to move. Each person experiences the illusion that the planchette moves under its own power. Ouija Boards were first patented by Parker Brothers in 1920 and retail for about $20.

  11. Whatever people tell you, DON'T DO IT.

  12. T R's answer is nearly perfect. All I would add to it is - any person or persons that claim to be able to use the Ouija board to answer questions specifically - blindfold them and see if they can still do it. I guarantee 100% that their accuracy disappears.

  13. I'll believe in the ouija board when it can answer questions with nobody touching it.  I'll also probably run away screaming : )

  14. The board is but a device.  Like a car.. A computer.. A go between.

Spirits out number the living.  Most are about as intelligent as you are..  being dead doesent make you smarter  you just realise  you dont know how to die so most ghosts  who get a sensation out of the living are looking for attention or what I refer to as "anxious" energy.

When you feel anxious you exspell large amounts of energy from your nervious system.  This is somewhat related to a feeling of fear and shakeyness but your actually giving this energy out enough to affect yourself physically.

Opening portals and the like are laymans terms.. people use the words but they dont know what it means  its not like a doorway to the otherside opens up..  There are plenty of dead people that will willingly waste your time for a quick thrill.

The idometer effect can only happen with a larger group. Besides when the pointer moves on its own I would hazard a guess its not a cheap trick.

Typically in an area with alot of paranormal activity is where you would exsercise this device because of the strong ties of the entity to a certain location.. Place the board down on a ground floor not a table.. nothing suspended to... dispell halfwit skeptics.

The pointer should move with little or no help.

  15. A Ouija board has letters and numbers and a yes/no area.  Supposedly you and someone else can ask questions of departed spirits and the game-piece you both have to have your fingers on will move to the numbers, letters, and yes/no answers you need to find out who they are and what they want.  It is a lot faster to walk up to a total stranger and talk to them!!!

    May God bless you.

  16. They answer questions by calling on a spirit guide or your own intuition by moving a triangle shaped glass over letters and the words "yes" or "no."

I believe they are around $20.

  17. Nothing.....Pure entertainment for some people. Depends on price in what store your buying them.

  18. It is played like a game.. and supposedly 'Brings up Past People from the Spirit World'.. Personally.. I think its a buntch of 'Hokey'..  Picture this.. You and a group of friends in the dark.. and ask the 'Ouija Board' for the Spirit to 'Move the Board' if they are there.. The Board will move and scare the !! outta everyone.. but could not one of your group did it to be funny? Buy one and try it out.. Ime sure they are still available where games are sold.. Gud Luck.. and 'Boo!!'

  19. A ouija board put you in contact with the spirit realm. If you do buy one try to get an old one without the board. It can be worked by one person. You just  put a pen or pencil in it and it writes on paper there is less of a chance of a friend messing with you that way.I'm unsure of the price.

  20. The thing about the Ouija board is, people tend to use it without knowing it is dangerous. Very bad things can happen. I recommend that before you use the board, read THE DEMONOLIGIST by Ed and Lorrainne Warren.

  21. They were not first put out by the Parker Brothers toy company. They have been used for thousands of years and are a means of summoning spirits.

Please, stay away from them. God has said that you are not to try to contact spirits. I think it's very sad that a toy company has put something like that on the market for young children (or anyone!)

Watch The Exorcist. In the beginning of the movie, Linda Blair (I forget her character's name) uses a Ouija Board playfully. She even tells her mother that she had contacted a spirit named Mr. Something-or-Other. Then, later in the movie, she needs an exorcism.

It's a good movie, and it will show you what Linda does with the Ouija Board if you're interested. I think it's a fictional story, but things like that do happen. It is important to listen to God's advice, because he really does know what's best for us. Many of our problems today are a result of us thinking that we don't need God.

  22. Ouija boards are a way to talk to spirits, or devine the future. Of themselves they are useless, but they are in violation of the laws of God. In the end, they cause people to sin, which is inviting satan to take your soul. The big cost is not the financial one, but the loss of your eternal life promised by Jesus Christ.

  23. An Ouija board spells out messages based on the subconscious movements of the individuals who have their fingers on the pointer. Because there are several people involved and no one person feels or will admit that they are controlling the movement, people incorrectly interpret any meaningful messages as coming from "spirits". Most of the time they spell out garbage.

They cost from $25 to $75, depending on quality of materials.

  24. its awful. its all ways best to stay away from the devil, bad bad things have happened

  25. A ouija board is a toy that was put out by Milton bradley company years ago and were very popular because they claimed that you could contact the spirit world. It is also possible to purchase in any store that caters to the paranormal. It is debatable whether they work or not.

It is a board with letters on it (to spell out what the spirit is trying to tell you)

it has a yes/no on it

it also has a small triangle shaped pointer that is placed and pushed on the board by the users.

the cost of a board is anywhere from $15 and up

  26. Ouija boards are boards that hane the alphabets and the numbers printed on the board then you use a the planchette that you rest your fingers on.

Then you ask questions the planchette moves about the board to answer the questions.

the board works by the small muscles in the arms and hands that are manipulated by the subconscious mind.
