What does an "ignition killer" in my car alarm actually do ?

would someone still be able to bypass it if they were trying to steal it?

  1. Anyone with the knowledge could bypass the alarm with a jumper wire. Generally, they use a kill switch to the computer or ignition module.

    A sophisticated car thief would simply tow the vehicle away. Many use flat bed tow trucks.


  2. it stops the electrical signal the goes from the ignition to the engine. Mainly so a person can not hot wire the car. a good thief can work around it though.

  3. it locks the ignition and yes. its called hot wire.

    all it does is lock the ignition itself so nobody can use a s***w driver etc. but they can still hot wire it
