What does an underage child need to visit puerto rico?

my friend invited my 14 year old girl to visit PR with her and im not sure what is needed...does she need a passport??a social security card??a birth certificate??or just need to be with a legal american citizen?please provide feedback so i can make sure your answer is correct.thanx :]

Is your daughter an american citizen? If so, then she will only need a photo ID(which she probably doesnt have yet) or birth certificate. You will need to drop her off at the airport & someone will need to meet her when she arrives. That should be it

A minor American citizen is only required a certified birth certificate. I would also generate a letter stating who you are, who you are sending your child with, for how long (dates), and address, phone and cell number where they will stay. Letter should include your name, address, email, telephone and cell number, and also your daughter's name. I would also add a color headshot picture of your daughter on those copies. Make 3 copies, one for you, one for your friend, and one for your daughter. This is to make things easy for everyone.

Also, remember to send her medical card in case she needs medical care, make copies, and again give a copy to your friend, and one to your daughter. Get 2 copies of certified birth certificate in case on gets lost, your friend should carry one, and your daughter the other one. I also generated a medical consent letter in case she needs emerency care, it saves a lot of time if you are not present. The letter will state that you give consent for medical care in an emergency situation.

She will be just fine, but I'm always in a preventive mode, a few minutes of your time can save many headaches.
