Do you have any birthdates?  or death?  I found several Elijah Pierce but not sure that it is the one you are looking for.  The census goes up to 1930 anything after that will be sealed for 70 years for privacy matters.  

The way you begin to search is to start with yourself and write down all your information and then talk to your parents and gets as much information about them and there children, then their parents and grandparents.
