  1. Belonging to a community means caring about the people and things around you. It means doing that little extra thing for someone else just because they are your neighbor. Belonging to a community means raking the leaves in an elderly person's yard or shoveling their driveway because you know its hard for them or feeding the neighbors cat while they go away. It means respecting the area around you by keeping it clean and being polite to others. It means calling when you know someone in your neighborhood is sick or has just lost a loved one. It means making a casserole or something to take over to new neighbors. Most of all, it means belonging to a family outside of your own and contributing to help that family stay strong. Give a little bit and you get back a lot more. Good luck! Hope this helped!

  2. For me, it means looking out for one another.  When the fires roared through San Diego county, we discovered what a great little neighborhood community we lived in and what a wonderful large city it was a suburb of.  We checked on one another, kept each other abreast of information and news, helped older residents evacuate, and made certain that everyone had the supplies they needed.  Once communities were evacuated, those who weren't evacuated started delivering supplies to evaucation centers and making donations.  A community is more than just where your home is located, it is where you care about those who live around you enough to take action when necessary.
